None of the above. I already posted this in a different forum but I think it bears repeating here
: ___________________________________________ MS-DOS before microsoft neutered it. MS-DOS was the greatest - combining 3rd party support with a truly user hostile environment. Nothing like taking a present day computer spiff (who figures windows was probably around before computers were) and showing them to the old 486 with a dos only interface (no win 3.1) and watch them cringe with fear before the power of a real operating system. The funniest part, is how they will instinctively keep their right hand on the mouse at all times - even if it is not plugged in. Ahh - the good old days - all the way back in 1992. Of course there are those who argue that Unix / Linux (command line) is a far more user hostile environment, and they would be right. But using Linux is the point where people stop making fun of you behind your back - And just point and burst into fits of uncontrollable earth-shaking laughter right in your face. They would probably make fun of you, but they are so incapacitated that sometimes they even pee themselves laughing at you. And it hurts. Sometimes you cry yourself to sleep all alone in your room, deeply tortured at the prospect of being eternally labeled a Compu-Dork. Until a few years and a college degree later you are the systems operations manager for a highly prestigious computer industry firm and you just happen to be driving your BRAND NEW JAGUAR (the green one) when all of the sudden you see one of those people who laughed at you before - covered in filth and urea - Pushing a shopping cart, and possesing an odor redolant of dried blood and thunderbird. And you yell at him out the window "WHO'S LAUGHING NOW, LOSER," You continue "HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!" You manage, tastefully, not to pee yourself laughing. Then you get to the pet store to pick up a case of Weasel Chow® for your pet (it's a weasel) when you notice the person behind the counter is also one of those people who laughed at you. So you pull out your broadsword and begin chanting in the ancient tongue of the shadow dwellers "Tuoba gniklat yug siht si tahw". And just then a vortex pulls your victim into the darkened realm of pashakk. And I guess that's pretty cool, but I like DOS better.

I'm using WinXP Pro at work and I like it...but it seems to have issues with multi-threading high memory apps (like Fireworks, Visual Interdev and all my web dev apps).
At home, my entire network is Win2k Pro and I love it. Stable and relatively easy to administrate...so I vote for that. XP has a foothold in the home-user world...but I think it'll be a few more months and a service pack (or two) before it starts to really become standard in the business world.
