I had a few errors and got a virus. Pretty much, when the computer was turning it on would restart right away. This was a Win2k Server Box.
So, I decided to format. Now I've did this many times and never experienced this. I deleted my old partition, made a new one and made it active. Restarted. (used fdisk) When it restarted I typed the command to format. It started, as normal. But @ 32% is stops formatting. Won't go past it, won't format. Could the drive be bad? Please help .. I really don't want to have to buy another one for this computer. Thanks. |

Hey Jam,
What brand hard drive is it and what size? If you are using either Win2K Pro or Server try booting from the cdrom if ya can and let it go through and format the drive instead of using fdisk. If you can post the model of the drive as far as brand and model number I may be able to find the companies own software that will write zero's to the drive basically making it brand new. I know my Seagate drives have this software available to them. |

Sounds like your hard drive may have a major bug. My maxtor hard drive did that on me once. I got a program to do a Master Boot restore. That may be able to help it. Unfortunatly to dlete and restore the whole master boot record takes a long time.
