PHP as a module and IIS 5.0

Has anyone been able to get IIS to run php as a module without it shutting down IIS for no reason. I kinda like Apache but I wouldn't mind playing around with IIS for the practice but I won't run php as an executable, since it is a good bit slower then the module. I would like to hear some of your experiences on this.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi George

I'm just playing around with windows 2000 server, after fighting I got finally IIS running.
But than I wanted to have php on my server but they told me to run apache so I installed them both and for a 'new kid on the block' with this server stuff I did well in one time with all.

I did made a few .php files and they work all fine, no errors etc.

But one file don't want to run when I look for my servers IP through my browser and that's the index.php file

when I type my http://IP/index.php it work but not if i do just http://IP

Do you maybe know what the problem could be ?
Or has somebody out here a suggestion/solution

if it is apache server there is a section in the http config file to set what documents you want to be automatically opened. I think default settings for this are index.htm and index.html. I will copy and paste an exerpt from my config file to show ya then.
