Another M$ rant...
Ok, so my system was out of control and not running very well, so I decided to format and start over with fresh bios, drivers, and OS. Everything goes very well until I go to 'activate' Win Xp Home. IT tells me that it can only be activated once!!!! I was so pissed. So, I follow the instructions and call M$ to give them a piece of my mind.
I will give M$ some credit: 1) They provide an 800 number. 2) A real human answered the phone after about 1.5mins of waiting ... of course it was at 3am EST, but thats still very good. 3) It took very little time to get windows activated and they were very nice and helpful. Basically, when you activate window over the net for the first time, it remembers your activation code. Then, the next time you go to activate, it says that that version is already running on another computer and that you can't activate it. You would think that M$ would have a way to check the computer specs (which includes serial numbers) and see that its the same computer. Come on Bill ... give us a break!!! -JRW |
