Overclocking 2500+

I've had my barton 2500+ for awhile now, but I've decided to not overclock it because I've never been sure how to. I've done it before, and I've seen performance increase, but I was afraid of the heating issues. My Enermax probe detects no more than 45C, but when I use motherboard monitor it says the diode is like 190C. It's major confusing and I don't know whats good or not or whats accurate. Also, I've had to increase my voltage up like 2 notches (therefore creating more heat) and I dont know if its safe. I know how to overclock...But I'm just simply not sure. If that makes any sense. Can someone maybe give me a goal to shoot for? Because I know these things can OC easily to 3200+ speeds. I have an ASUS A7N8X...Should I update the motherboard BIOS? Someone told me I should do that so the temperatures can be more acccurate. I have good cooling besides my loud Volcano9+, so I would think it would be okay if EVERYONE else overclocks. The problem I've noticed the most is my memory clock speeds. If I set it to SPD it goes over 200+...and it becomes unstable...I have CORSAIRXMS PC3200 memory...and It goes to about 210 until i becomes instable...Do I increase memory voltage? Because that limits my whole overclocking. If not, I set it to 100% so it is in sync with the CPU... I have all the benchmarking tools I need.

Sorry if my information was kind of jumbled, but that came from the top of my head. I could use some help overclocking! Thanks!

same setup here... couldn't get the system stable though at 3200+

Yup memory voltage is recommended if the memory causes you problems.Although from what I read for these CPU's 216MHzх11.5 Multiplier should be reached perfect without any problem. For 230 Mhz and up you may have mem probs and haveto increase me voltage.
Vcore - CPU voltage I think may well be increased to up to 1.775 V or even 1.85 but temperature is the main problem. And the Barton - low chance of great overclock but you still need to try.

The Barton 2500+ is perfect for overclocking, primarily because it was left "unlocked" by AMD. If you have a MB (Bios) that allows you to change CPU settings its a snap to overclock, primarily the CPU FSB Clock, the remaining settings are the same for the 2500+ up to the 3200+.....

Just remember....Insure you have adequate cooling! And be very careful at increasing core voltages.

Yep, still kicking, just not as high these days....*L*.... I had to go "inactive" for awhile due to medical reasons. Its good to be back though.
