Seagate 200gig : windows says its 131gig

Hi , i got a new seagate 200gig model# st3200822a
i have windows xp pro and a intel p4 2.66ghz
When i put in the new hdd it said the max size was 131gig yet in bios it says 200gig , i have tried to format it and everything i could think of , even boot from xp disk and try format it from there but it still says its 131gig max : /

Also i am using it as a slave but i have tried it as master and its no different.

Any help on how i can get windows to recoginise it correctly?

Could be due to the different systems manufacterers use in calculating the hd size, read this thread about it.

You might also want to read this howto, by RipperRoo, on how to install a new hd, maybe you find something usefull in there.

greffov will become famous soon enough
you need a special patch from your mobo manufacturer, to support the 200Gig size. I've had this myself with a machine as well, it saw exactly the same size.

This happens all the time with those large drives.
Make Sure you Read the article from Seagate (follow the link that Berks so kindly provided above).
fixing the problem is fairly easy:

After you have installed the drive go into Administrative tools-> disk management.

From there you can recover the "missing/lost" part of the drive by resizing.
You can also do this by using partition magic.
