? about Seagate

Whats the diffrence between the seagate sata and the seagate IDE and also the EIDE Barracuda? trying to learn about them and decide which one to go with

I would probably go with SATA for now, though the actual throughput is not significantly faster then the fastest IDE (despite the maximum possible throughput as the chart shows). I do like the smaller connectors though. I think that it generally goes undisputed that the best SATA hard drive out right now is the WD Rapter 74GB. I can't wait until SATA reaches 500mb/s.....

I agree there Generix. SATA is the way to go righ tnow.. merely because once it becomes more widely used.. all of those who already have it hooked up on their computers as such wont hav ea problem dropping another drive in there quickly to taste the speeds possible of being hit in the future.

My mobo has the regualar ide, and sata on the southbridge, will this make a difference when i boot up, errors and such, I'll find out soon enough i guess, but a heads up is always nice to have =)

Shouldn't have a problem. I had both hooked up for awhile. Just to transfer files, but I didn't have a problem. I had an Asus mobo also.
