if you want to upgrade your HSF, the first thing i would suggest is have a look at a few HSF reviews - most have comparison charts between various coolers in each review, so you can get an idea if its worth spending the money.
remeber also to get a good thermal paste, as this can make a degree or 2 difference in temps as well. heres a few links to HSF reviews to start you off: http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1724 http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1667 http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1603 http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1601 http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1582 http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1578 http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1556 http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1540 http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1539 http://www.pctechtalk.com/view.php?id=1506

You might also want to look at things like.
Thermal compound used and how it was applied (too much is not good) Try taking the heatsink off and cleaning it with alcohol, reapply Arctic silver thermal compound (any!)and reseat it.. If after that your temps don't drop below 50c I suggest a new heatsink/fan BTW the Jet 7 looks pretty but its not a good performer... Look into a Thermalright heatsink and you won't go far wrong ! |
