Exclamation One problem solved ....

OK I have my system now dual booting win 98 and win xp and its partioned like this ...

C: Win98
D: Win Xp
E: Files

When I am in win 98 or win xp I can still see the other 2 drives ... I would prefer it that when in Win 98 I can only see C and E drive and when in Win XP I can only see D and E drives ...

Also ... I have an intel wireless keyboard/mouse/joypad that aren't connected yet but ...

How will I be able to choose which os to boot with ... I don't think the k/b will be recognised until the pc has booted into and os ?

It will read everything like I should. I don't believe you can make the drive invisible. I am not, sure it should select windows XP as the first OS.

You could try formatting your partition with XP on it in NTFS format, since windows 98 uses the fat file system it won't be able to read the the NTFS file system that XP is using, but when you are in XP you will be able to read both NTFS and FAT so you will see and be able to write to all drives.

True, but the drive windows xp will on can still read the Fat32's. He can't get it so they both can't see each other.

I don't know of anyway to have one operation system see certain drives and not other ones. Win98 should be able to use any drives that are formated using NTFS... not that that solves your problem of anything.

How do you have the mouse/keyboard connected? If they are PS/2 they will be active when the system boots, so they will work in the bios and things like that. If they are USB, they won't work until the operating system has fully loaded. You will need another keyboard to enter the bios.

Hmm, you sure Win98 can read NTFS drives, jrwap? I had WinNT and Win98 once and Win98 wasn't able to read a NTFS formatted drive. Well, of course you can add the ability for it with a proggie.

That was the plan... the win98 boot won't be able to read the NTFS drive....

Oh yeah, reading back I see that I wrote the wrong thing.
