I reinstalled with the recovery cd that came with my puter(Win Xp home) and then upgraded to win xp pro, before i formatted i made a backup of my files with the cr-rw with nero(i used overburn, which y drive supports),but now the computer doesn't evensee the disk in either the dvd rom of the cd-rw drive what can the problem be?

geocities/yahoo doesnt allow outside linking of images, you need to post it on a page and link to the page itself, not the jpg file

make sure that you have the correct drivers installed for that operating system each system may have different drivers for different hardware. Go to the manufacturers homepage you should be able to get all of the drivers there.

Try deleting your CDRom and CDRW drives in the Device manager, then let Windows reinstall them at the next boot--this SOMETIMES fixes strange problems with cdroms.
I have experienced similar problems, and it seemed to have cropped up sometime after applying all of the post SP1 patches.

If I ever figure out exactly where the problems is, you can be sure I will post it.

Could that be the problem? My computer came with Windows Xp Home Ediition installed and I never had this kind of problem.Should i go back to Home Edititon?Do you think this would make it go away?

I would ignore this message if it weren't because the back up cd that i burnt has important stuff, and the drives detect it as a blank cd.

Sorry to say that, but I don't think that any CD-RW can be reliably overburned ...

Anyway, a bad block in a CD-RW is not that unusual. Every time that you record, the surface reflectivity degrades, so after many burns (hundreds) bad clusters appears. Unless the disk is really bad, you only loose a file or a directory, not the whole disc. If you can read any other CD-ROM, then you don't need anything special to read the CD-RW, so the problem whould be in the disc itseft. Did you try this disc in another computer?

hmm...I haven't had a chance to try the cd out in another computer, but I'll give it a shot as soon as I can.The most I could do was to get Isobuster to recognize it as a blank cd,otherwisethe computer reports that there is nothing in there.
