Another box with lights....
Well I can safely assume I'm not the only one here who had a box with lights as soon as the power switch was turned on. I had finally got all the damn parts together and being cautious as possible. All the things that were concivable when doing this were checked.
When I pressed the power button the liquid cooling was running exceptionally, but nothing was happening. I attached the chipset fan back on the jumper, nothing happened. After a few weeks I even went so far as to buy a new cpu. When I used the retail cpu's fan on the cpu jumper and when the chipset was running....not even that was working. I'm thinking of putting the fan and heatsink on, and removing the mofo from the case to be sure the case isnt shorting out the mofo. So whats the problem? This cant be a BIOS issue, I did the CMOS jumper thing already...any ideas? Oh and heres my hardware: AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 2.0ghz 266mhz FSB Corsair XMS RAM 512mb 400mhz bus Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra Black Edition Koolance PC2-C water cooled. My hard drive, floppy, video card, and burner are on the pc Im using right now....transplant kind of...

did it beep at you when you switched it on?
this is usualy a good indication you did something right. other than that, 1st thing i would look at would be the cables, make sure everything is plugged in correctly, including the case conections such as the power button, lights and reset switch. I dont personaly know the board your using, but maybe there are jumpers that require setting for it to use an agp graphics card instead of a pci card?

Yeah thats the thing....not a sound. You know Ripper u just enlightened me to use a very old AGP card I scavenged from a dead pc....heh not sure if it works since this PC here doesnt have agp slot.
When you mentioned cables and the mofo, those were the first I checked. Another ironic twist is that there arent any jumpers for hardware on the mofo. Theres only the CMOS jumper. All other settings, like overclocking, are done from the BIOS. Either its static electrical damage or a serious BIOS flashing required.

The first thing that I try on a computer that doesn't even POST is the PSU. If you have some other PSU you could try and see if the problem is the PSU or not.
Something else you can try is remove all hardware except Video and keyboard, and look if the mobo does POST. Then start adding all hardware one by one (floppy, hdd, PCI cars...) |

PSU eh? You really think it might affect anything? Maybe I'll take a look but i dont have another psu. The pc right here I use almost everyday, and its 110 watts
The new one is an Achieve 500 watt psu. I really dunno bout that one but ill try the one at a time thing again, since new cpu was installed, WITHOUT touching anything remotely metallic on the chip.
