CDrom drive doesnt stop CD during eject

Ok I have a problem with a CD rom drive of mine. A Mitsumi 32x.

When I eject a CD it doesnt stop the CD first it ust releases the CD and leaves it scratching on the tray! Ouch I say! Ok lame i know :p But SERIOUSLY its a 32x and in good shape otherwise.

I can open tray easily and stick in a CD without a problem. Its just when it comes to taking it out again that the CD comes out scrapping the surface of the tray leaving me with a beautifully scartched CD!!!

Any ideas?

NOPE! COMPLETELY USELESS! Their reply was

"Sorry sir we cannot help you with this problem, we cannot send you instructions on a manual repair. We advise you purchase a new CD drive."

try cutting out some nice thin soft cloth so you can stick it down on the cd tray itself... lol .. that should stop any over spinning and scratching!

as to how to stop the thing from still spinning ..hmm google it is

Hmm but wot kind of thin soft cloth could i use...most would end up scratching CDs or be to thick...unless you know of one? I mean its 500rpm or faster that a CD spins so it may be a tempory solution but i dont think it would work long term.

Thanx though, it may be i find a cloth soft enough but i certainly dont have anything like that in my house at the moment. Ill have to shop around.

Thanx,

K-C
