Did I get the wrong drive?

I recently added an 80 gig Maxtor diamond 9 HDD to my rig, and I'm beginning to think I got the erong animal. I was trying to optimize my boot time with BootViz, and noticed a warning saying that the write cache was disabled.

When I checked both my HDD's (a 40 gig maxtor diamond 8, and the 80 gig mentioned above), I found the 40 gig's cache was enabled, but that the 80 was grayed out in the properties. I also noticed an extra tab with SCSI Properties on it.

I an running the AT7 max2 with the 40 gig drive on the IDE 1 connector as my boot drive, and using a serial ATA jack ( with the serielle adapter) for the 80. The only reason for the serial ATA is to tuc down on ribbon connectors until I get some round cables.

Anyhow, they seem to be running fine, except that when I tried to defrag the 80, it seemed to take far longer than the other drive. Is there some way to get around this, or do I just live with it? ultimatly I want to get another 80 and set up raid 0. Will I be able to do this, or do I start over? Any input appreciated.
