whered that new drive come from?

Hi all,

i just partitioned my HD with Partition magic so that id have an extra drive to use for kazaa and my Sony MD player software and since returning into windows ive noticed 2 extra drives... one is the drive i created and the second is a CD/DVD drive which when i check its properties shows it to be a Nero Image drive..???

ive checked neros settings and it isnt set to use an Image drive, nor has an image been mounted..??

any idea whats going on?

are you using any software that emulates cd/dvd rom drives?

not that i know of.. The only thing i was doing previous to creating the new partition was using Nero Drive Image to Mount a cd image which i had created.

Ive just noticed also that the image i had mounted is now undeleteable.. i think i may have left the image mounted whilst i was creating the new partition..crap!

Im not too fussed about looking the image file but do you think that this maybe the cause?

ill try deleting the image from dos.

yes, that is the cause...before you delete the image, look in nero drive image and make sure that it still isn't mounted. if it isn't try to mount it, and unmount it.

it says "cannot delete file: the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"

im actually going to format the drive tomorrow as schools out now and its my chance to format and configure my machine for some online holiday gaming action for the 4 months i have off.

But before i do that, i would like to get the problem sorted so that if i come accross this again i'll know what to do...

its simple enough to format and restart but its much more worth while if i learn the problem and solutions.

This is a feature of Nero that will allow you to mount images as CD or DVD drives. I'm not sure how to disable this (I don't use it), but probably from Add/Remove programs you can remove Nero Drive Image.

Its ok! all done.. this morning i used GHOST to restore my computer to how it used to be before i installed that crappy SONY openMG software... biggest piece of doodoo ive ever seen in my life.
