Question about user access?

Ok this is what I want to do. I have2diffrent user names on my pc. Mine and a guest user. What I wanna know is how do I restrict like drive access. If the person just useing the internet they dont need access to my files and programs or install software. Any info or suggestions for me to do?I looked under control panels under users but it doesnt let be decide what they can and can not do.

You can create a new user, of the default group guest, which can't install software and do things which has something to do with the OS.

If you wan't to restrict access for a certain user for your files, you need to have NTFS formatted drives. You can change the accesscontrol list of files, folders and drives (I think). You can explicitly exclude usernames to read, write, append and delete.

However, if you want some user be able to log in on your workstation, and be able to work, all program files should be readable for that user. Don't experiment with restricting access to system files, in the worst case your PC won't boot again.

Overall advice: only change the permissions for folders and files which contain documents and stuff you created yourself.

Is there a program I can just use for my account to keep stuff from beening install and access my files? Like a security program or something?

I have done this on a friend system for here kids..if you create another account, just restrict it..they will not be able to install anything, or delete anything. If will give you a choice at setup whether you want to share My Documents & My Pictures or not.
After you create there account, go into it & take all the stuff off the Start Menu ...like My Computer..Control Panel...etc.

As long as your account is set properly and password protected then they will not be able to access any of your files (or your desktop) other that stuff in your Shared folder.
(The ADMINISTRATOR account in XP can access ALL accounts though)
