Modem tweaks needed
Hi there
Only have Dial up 56k for now but would like to know any tweaking utils out there. Ok they all do same thing with a fancy interface but just want to try heaps of prog to see which is the best 4 ME. Im upgrading to Cable in 2 months but need 4 speed is now |

the best and easyest tweek ive seen is to get yourself a 64k isdn modem, if your line is is good condition youll notice the speed increase, as most isp's support 128k isdn (2 lines) so the port speeds are all set to 64 and not 56 as most people belive.
you should be able to find a 64k isdn on e-bay

Hi zombie.......
5 to 8kbps on a 56k dialup is doing pretty darn good!. Most dialup users only average around 4 to 5kbps, or less. You didn't say what OS your using. If you are using 98/SE there are some "manual" dialup networking and registry tweaks to help. Its been awhile since I've used 98/SE, but I'll look for them. Once you go to cable....check out... SpeedGuide.net....lotsa GREAT tweaks to get the most out of your cable modem connection. Hope this helps.
