n00b at partitions

Man im a bit pissed that UTC merged with tech talk but oh well...

Well now that ive had my new drive for a while ive been annoyed that either my old as dirt BIOS or win 98SE is making my 60GB drive at a max partition go at 30GB

I'm trying out some UNIX ports and win 2000 pro and i either need a new bios or some partitioning software to do this....but i dunoo where to start....any ideas?

Thanks

Hey Nick,

Ya might wanna get a copy of Partition Magic. Sometimes the software that comes with the HDD doesn't quite do the job. I have had to go into Partition Magic and reallocate the space on a disk that I had just installed. It's really easy with PM.

And as far as the merger goes, I think if you read this thread I think it will help you understand what happened.

Look at it this way, ya finally getcher sig ta read how ya want it................

your junking win98 and moving to windows 2k and need a partition program?
why? you can set up your partitions using windows 2000 either during install or by using the 'disk management' tools within the admin tools of win2k. you can only use the management tools to create a partition in the free space you have on the drive, but it beats paying extra for another bit of software to do it for you.

pm is great for moving / resizing drives but if your doing a clean install you dont need it.

Actually ripper im using other partitions for testing 2000 pro and unix...im keeping a small 98se partition strictly for games, a second for normal use, third for testing 2000 pro, and it possible, the fourth one for unix testing.
