Ah. Actually, what you might want to do is install Windoze 2k first and then Linux second. The reason being is most flavors of Linux come with a good boot-loader called Lilo (short for Linux loader) which can be easily setup to boot to multiple OS's. In fact, if you plan on installing something like Redhat or Mandrake, they will actually detect that you have a version of Windoze already installed, and automatically setup Lilo to allow you to boot to it.

As a rule I don't resize a partition after setting one up and installing an OS to it, because there is a chance (however small it may be) that you will damage that partition and lose all data on it. If you have unpartitioned space on your drive you should just be able to start the normal Windoze setup and tell it to make a new partition, or even better would be to just install to a seperate disk entirely.
Sorry I don't have any info about partitioning software, but I never use any myself (other than good old fdisk) so I don't keep up with them. |
