my thread disappeared!!

Good job, George....

j/k man. I just had to mess with ya a bit.:p

Anyway...I got the temp on my XP down to about 43C while idle, and I was really pleased.

Just as an experiment (i actually figured it would run too hot) I decided to see how it would react to a little oc'ing. Anyway, I upped the FSB just a little bit and went from 1.466 MHZ (it's an XP 1700) to 1.539 Mhz. It booted fine, and seems to be running really stable. The idle temp is now 47-48C and after playing some RTCW for about twenty mintues it was running at 52C. Now, being inspired by John's thread, I may see just how far I can push it. :smilewink

I dunno, tho, I'm kind of afraid to go any further, what do you guys think?

no...the temp jumped again. now it's running about 50C idle, and 55C after running some progs. I think I better leave it where it is, or I really might fry this thing:p

So far I've managed to get an extra 112mhz out of mine and its running quite happily at 47 degrees .. Play moh and it runs at 51-52 degrees .. I haven't seen it go above 52 degrees though.

This vantec fan is a little annoying ... Its hitting 7300 rpm and sounds like an hair dryer ... I dunno how much long I can take it
