I honestly think it depends on the processor some...but I've often wondered this myself

This is my 1800+ OC'd a bit, I'm still messing with it, and thinking of unlocking the multiplier, but its also under full load, and has been for over a year (just a bout straight), does this look good for temps?

(I'll actually post the pic this time...lol)

After seeing that, I don't feel so bad

One thing that really lowered my temp, was to hang the power supply out the back of my case (ie: not inside the case), this lowered temps by about ten degrees celcius

In my main rig the XP2000+ (model 6) runs at 45º idle, 56º Celsius for normal to high use. With the old mobo the same CPU would run from 59º to 65º!

But the CPU of the computer that I have in the livingroom (Tbird 1,2 GHz) usually runs at 73º; it's too high but the case is a small half-profile (not best air flow) and the computer is next to the VCR with very little ventilation... Anyway this comp is for gaming (it's plugged to the TV) so I don't use it for long periods of time .

Hmm.. brings me back to the days when I was running a Tbird AMD 1500 chip.. weee .. that sucker ran at 165 F or more no matter what I did to cool it.

Was unfortunate that the conductors were so close to the CPU fan mount area though.. when I popped a super orb fan on there to try and help it I fried the mobo.

Have all of you tried the VIA Chipset WPCREDIT cooling Tweak i posted some time back???
It will lower your overall Temps dramatically (as long as you are not running at 100% constantly). Very simple to do...and it is FREE!! (for those of you who are using Via chipsets)
