Look into my crystal ball...

So, AMD has recently released their latest MP and XP processors, but what is coming up for the next year you ask?

Lets look:

1st Quarter 2002- AMD will release the Thoroughbred which is their new desktop processor. It will have a faster bus speeds (333mhz?) and clock speeds than the present Athlons. The die will shrink to a .13u process.

AMD will also release the Appaloosa which is another desktop processor aimed at the budget consumer. It will feater faster bus and clock speeds that the present Durons and will also use the .13u manufacturing process.

The Thoroughbred and Appalossa will also make their way into the mobile market by the summer.

2nd Quarter 2002- The Thoroughbred will receive some special treatment to help heat dissipation. This includes using a technology known as 'Silicon on Insulator'. It is also thought to save power.

AMD will release their attempt at 64bit processing. This processor, known as the Clawhammer, will start life at 2Ghz and is aimed at performance desktops and servers.

1st Quarter 2003- AMD will release the Clawhammer DP which is a dual-processor capable version of the Clawhammer.

AMD will also release the Sledgehammer MP. This is a 64bit server processor that is capable of supporting up to 8 CPU's.

Looks like we have alot to look forward to in the next year.
