Changing CPUs

OK I have a AMD XP2200 CPU and I just saw a XP2600 for sale with the same motherboard I have now pretty cheap. Can i change out the CPU without having to do much to my computer other then taking things apart and putting them back together? And would it even be worth putting the 2600 in to replace the 2200?

yup, just swapping chips is easy, nothing much needs doing apart from a reset of a few paramiters in the bios (once the new CPU is in)

as for whether its worth it: the 2600 is a barton cored chip, meaning it runs at 333mhz fsb and uses a 512 L2 cashe instead of 256
if you have a good enough cooler to handle the barton go 4 it m8

The XP2600 can be either Barton or Thoroughbred. And there are two Tbred!

TBred: 133 MHz FSB (DDR 266), 256 KB cache, 2133 MHz
TBred: 166 MHz FSB (DDR 333), 256 KB cache, 2083 MHz
Barton: 166 MHz FSB (DDR 333), 512 KB cache, 1917 MHz

If possible get the barton because it runs cooler (so can overclock better if you're interested). The Tbred 166 is a bit faster.
