if you want to upgrade your HSF, the first thing i would suggest is have a look at a few HSF reviews - most have comparison charts between various coolers in each review, so you can get an idea if its worth spending the money.
remeber also to get a good thermal paste, as this can make a degree or 2 difference in temps as well.

heres a few links to HSF reviews to start you off:

have you also thought about getting fresh air into the case?

this is how i managed to get my running temp down to 36 to 42max load.. thats what im always running at now, i have 2 fans running air out and one fan running air in.. it keeps the circulation going.. so before you go spending money on more expensive fans, id suggest taking a look at how well the air is circulating.

My method of checking the airflow was to plug the pc in outside in the garden propped up on a table and then to turn it on, let it run for a few minutes and blow some fresh cigarette smoke in through the air intake... it filled up the case nicely and showed me where the smoke was settling (i can see inside cos of my window mod, just incase your wondering) and where it was being sucked straight out.. thats how i know wher the hotspots in my case are. i have 2, on under the hard disk tray and one under the pci card slots.. luckily the air blowing into the case blows over the graphics card and keeps it cool aswell as the cpu..

if your going to try this, i seriously suggest you do this outside if your house is a non smoking environment and let your pc run for a good 10 minutes to get the smell out of your components!

well yes and no in a way, the only setting you need to do is a physical adjustment of the fan, if its currently blowing air out of the box, flip it around so its blowing in.. simple as that,

also, try and position them so that you have some kind of crosswind going, that way your sure to get good air in all corners.

Air in from the front and air out from the back works well, but sometimes even this doesnt work though, for instance, if you have a jungle of wires in your box, it causes disruption to airflow and actually increases temps because it cant suck the hot air out fast enough. You need to strike a comprimise between good air and good circulation.

Also something i just remembered, make sure to fit a filter on the intake as LOTS of dust will go in, as i found out after 2 weeks of running the intake and wondering what all that fur was on my Radeon!

i c wot u mean now well there are 2 case fan bays in my case at the back one above the other so i would put the inflow on the botom and the out at the top as it will collect most hot air as heat rises

is considering puting a blowhole in the top of the case but not right now i will keep you updated when i get my case fans

To keep a good airflow you should place one fan blowing air out of the case, below the PSU. If possible use a PSU with two fans. Also you can place a fan in the front of the case, at the lower end there is a place for an in-take.
What is the exact model of the CoolerMaster that you use for the CPU?

There is now way to change the rpm. You just plug to the correct header and it will run at a fixed speed. It is possible to add a regulator to manually adjust rpm, but that's not your case, I guess. Also ASUS A7N8X is able to throttle CPU fan based on to CPU temp. But I don't know if Gigabyte can do this (you have a Gigabyte mobo, haven't you?

The AMD XP 2800+ should run at 1,650V core, and I noticed that you're running it a 1,720v! This overheats the CPU, and if you're not overclocking, there is no reason to up the VCore.

Mine runs at 37-39 C (Idle) and 46 C (full load) with ambient air = 27 C.

Using the Best Heatsink --> Thermalright SLK-800.
Nice big QUIET 80 mm fan on it. I will NEVER go back to a HSF that uses those itty-bitty 60mm Screamers running at 5,000 rpm.

Ask Berks about those....He originally had a HSF like the one you describe..but I converted him...and now he is very happy.
