to be honest, no its not worth the extra cash for the 3000,

Here is a page that will come in handy to help you make your mind up.
you will see that the 333mhz fsb barton 3000xp run at less than an additiional 100mhz clock speed, and its been years since you payed £1 per mhz.

sorry ripper there was a problem with the link

well can yuo tell me what the actual clock speed of both is ??

i see that it would save me alot of money going for a cheaper chip as i said in other posts i need at least minimum spec for HL2 which is 2ghrtz and direct x 9 512 RAM i think i want more than that if pos u know

yeah - get the 2500 or a 2600, and overclock it.

sorry ripper but that means nothing to me lol i know a bit about hardare but thats over my head m8 lol just in basic enough terms does fine lol

ok the 3000+ and the 2800+ both have the same 512kb l2 cache

both barton core

but the clock speed is slightly different by how much ??

as far as over clocking goes how far can you push it and cooling wise what would i need ??

lets just highlight the two your askin about, maybe easyer

AXDA3000DKV4D 3000+ 2167MHz 13x 333MHz
AXDA2800DKV4D 2800+ 2083MHz 12.5x

as you can see a difference of about 84mhz between the two, not worth £100, as for cooling, the best advice i can give is to have a look thru our Affiliate News section on the home page, there you will find reviews of all the latest heatsinks and water cooling kits, heres a few to start you off
