chances are the second 3 pin connector isnt for a second cpu fan, but instead is for a case fan, even so, it should still work

it could be that its broken or it could just be disabled by a jumper on the motherboard (although i dont why it would be).

without knowing the motherboard you have an answer would be impossible. do you have a user manual that tells you the name of the board?

Its very common for motherboard headers to blow and stop working.. Personally i don't think you should ever run case fans from motherboard headers... If your case fan is 3 pin spend a $ and buy a 3 - 4 pin convertor that way you can plug the fan directly into a molex connector.. This does loose you RPM monitoring but if you really need that feature there is a 3 - 4 pin with RPM support..

Check them Here

yes, with an adapter, if your in the uk as your name suggests go to maplin, they sell them for a few pounds, i was looking at there fans and cooling setion last week and they had a molex to 2 x 12v & 2 x 5v connector for £4.95 (the 5v plugs will run your fans at a lower speed making then quieter but not as efficient)
