windows xp upgrade gone bad

hello everyone,

i'm having a little problem here.

I decided to upgrade from windows xp home edition to the pro version.

One of my friends got a disk that one of his friends copied for him.

He gave me a copy,it's a non bootable version.

So anyways what i did was put the cd in my dvd drive and started the upgrade verythign seemed to be going fine. But while it was doing the upgrade it asked me to ocate a file _ivaag i believe)this seemed to be some sort of driver formy hard drive...stupid me i chose ignore after looking for the driver .everything seemed to be going smooth even after i chose to ignore.

But then after the upgrade was dome and the new windows x p pro booted for the first time,i found the resolutio of my monitor at the lowest i right clicked on the desktop-->properties and chose 1024*786 then everything went black event hougn that was my last resolution...i tried to boot into safe mode...nothing..then tried all the restof the boot options:safe mode again, avg, debugging, but right after i tried start from my last knpb good configuration it gave me a blue screenof death and said some thing about windows shutting down to avoid hardware damage...and mentioned and unmontabl disk...then it gave me options like boot into safe mode unistall,et and a strange error code.

Well that's pretty much what happened.I'll try to provide the exact message but right now I'm writing this S.O.S from one of the public linbraries computers.

I downloade the windows xp pro sp1 floppy diusks that let you start your cd rom. disk that let you sthart you boot from your cd rom(btw i have my dvd rom as one of the boot devices boot the disk that i'm using to upgrade is non-bootable)

I hope someone can help.I'll try to write back as sonn as I can

THanx in advance.
