My setup:

ide1 - DVD Rom

ide2 - CD-R/RW

ide3 - Ata Raid (hard drives)

ide4 - hard drive

Each one is set to master. The only down side that I can see is all those rediculous ata cables. Other than that, I get pretty good performance.
