Multi-Booting Linux
New To this whole Linux thing and i am having alot trouble with the multi-booting i am trying to get Fedora Core 5, which i am downloading the core 6, and Mandriva 2007 Powerpack, SuSe (Which i aint got yet but i am downloading),Ubunutu 6.06, Xandros 4 Home Premium, Windows XP Pro SP2 Intergrated to all go onto one computer system and i can play around in all those to see wich distro of linux i like better and i am about to rule out Fedora Core 5 because it doesnt have any of my codecs for playing movies and music and i dont really know how to install any software on linux. i got MPlayer to install on Fedora Core 5 but it was only command line base and i dont know how to put a GUI on it. but there are so many thing to do and understand when installing on Linux like where does it install something and how can i manually reconfigure the installation of software to go where i want it to go. anyways i hear the Mandriva 2007 is a really good distro to use for a beginner. i know that line has alot to do with the command line bases and i am super familiar with the windows GUI and stuff i heard alot of good things about linux and i am getting tired of Windows unstable platform and things. also i am trying to get Fedora Core 5 to see NTFS Filing System and i cant so that is another reason why i am ruling out Fedora Core 5. Alot of people told me that Fedora Core 5 was a great beginners distro. so anyways what i am trying to say is i need help with the multi-booting and the installation of my Codecs and other software. also where can i get open source software at? like Codecs and all that great junk that the Operating System doesnt supply??? Help on this would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!
