Testing the replacement ram in your PC doesnt mean much-unless you are certain that ram is fully compatible-density issues come to mind. I'd memtest86 the old ram first, if that checks out fine, then I'd suspect the memory controller. Use each slot individually, and use only one stick ( if you have multiple). And verify that second "known good " ram module is fully comptaible.

Wild guess also-try looser ram timings. I'm assuming (if you overclock) you went back to default...clear cmos and start over. Its a long shot but worth a try.
