OK, long story short:

Bought son a puter (tower + nice 17" Compaq monitor) at a yard sale for $6 (no cables etc). Seller knew nothing about it, other than it was "computer parts."

It starts to load the Win2000 start up screen, then skips to a blue screen -
In the top left it says "Inacessible boot device."

Looking through possibilities someone has suggested it could be the BIOS... is this indeed a possibility and any ideas where to go from here?

Son and his friend took the hard drive out, installed it on friends puter as a slave, it was recognized and had some viruses on it and was cleared. Win2000 was installed. Put HD back into puter.

Any ideas? I appreciate any help (not nearly as much as son will tho!).

Bios Version:
P4561 Bios
Cache Size 128 Kb
Microcode update F29/11

Edited to add: Sorry if this thread is in the wrong forum - I dont know enough about puters to know where exactly to put it.....
