So it appears that ASUS motherboards have a problem with the audigy cards. I came across this:

I just rebooted and fiddled a little with my BIOS settings....and now typing this message I haven't had a single pop!! The two things that I changed were the boot virus detection (I doubt that it was this) and the FSB spread spectrum control (I set it to 0 from .5%)....this setting reduces EMI by slightly modulating the master clock of the motherboard...
This is fantastic news for me, and it APPEARS that I have fixed the problem. If I still get problems, I'm going to just buy a ps/2 to usb converter and use that because one guy said that's how he fixed his. Well, thanks for your help anyway
