Angry Very annoying click with keypress...

I've been experiencing a VERY annoying "click" on my computer when music is playing (winamp) or a game is running and I press a key on the keyboard. It will click every 10-30 characters, or if I hold a button down. The click is very brief and audible.

I reinstalled the OS for another reason but this did not solve the click. I have updated the BIOS on my motherboard to the latest. I have updated the motherboard's drivers too. I have also updated the soundcard drivers to the latest. In the BIOS, I have the onboard sound turned OFF.

I do not get this click with my mouse or with any other input device. The fact that it is clicking only with the keyboard (to me) suggests that there is some sort of weird conflict with the input of the keyboard and the output of the speakers. There are no conflicts or anything for the IRQs.

The next step I plan to take is to switch the audigy to it's own IRQ (right now it is sharing with my video card)...I have plenty of open ones because I disabled the legacy serial/com/midi/etc ports. After that, I'm going to enable the onboard sound, disable the audigy, and try the speakers from the onboard instead.

Does anyone have any suggestions or have had any similar experiences with this type of problem?

Here's the info:

OS: Win2k Pro
Mobo: Asus a7n8x deluxe v2.0
soundcard: audigy 2 value
