no idea where, but i can tell you from personal experience that an AMD chip without a heatsink will last about half a second less time than it takes overheat protection to kick in and shut the power off. with a heatsink its not an issue because even should the fan stop working the temperature rise is slow enough to be caught by OHP and prevent any damage to the chip - provided your board has overheat protection.
