Now that yer not gonna buy the dual layer, you can buy the best single layer and have money left over. I had great luck with my TDK, and not too crazy about my Plextor, yet they always get great reviews.
I've also heard good things about the LGs. You probably couldn't go too wrong with a cheapie burner either, they almost all burn a DVD in under 10 minutes and since sensible dual layer burners are really just around the corner, it may be just a year or so before the disks and burners are reasonable.
