My opinion is it's too soon to buy dual layer. The disks are not readily available and by the time they are the new burners will be faster, cheaper, better. It's the way of the world with computers. I have so many expensive, outdated burners in my closet. And worse yet, slow media by the boxful. I know, I could just go ahead and use the old disks by burning slower, but jeez, if ya buy the fastest burner, and use up all yer old disks, by the time they're gone the burner's not the fastest ennymore. LOL.
I would guess yer only gonna be burning single layer DVDs for a while till the dual layers become more available and cheaper. By the time that happens, the new dual layer burners will be twice as fast as yours. With 8 gigs of space, that is quite a bit of time.
Right now, I think Sony is the best burner from what I've read. (it's also the way of the computer world that nothing else matters as long as yer the first to have something cool

)
