Ive never had problems with Linksys myself, DLink arent bad but can b a bit fiddly. Linksys generally tend to be expensive but are very good quality. I would suggest a combo - modem and router, i run one of those and they are very useful but a pain if something goes wrong as you are assured of no network and no net but to be honest it rarely goes wrong often.

I decided to go for a SMC Barricade, not well known but an excellent bit of kit! Its easy to use and configure and vary rarely do i hav any problems with it. Also they helpline was very good when i rang them (dont ask! My own silly fault!) It also has a parralell printer port built in for network printer sharing which is handy!
