Nothing is ever really free.
If a program gives you the option of opting out of providing them information, that is a good thing. But the bottom line is that is where "free" programs get funded. If everyone opted out, then the program would have to charge to stay afloat. I think it is very generous of them to allow you to opt out.
It's no secret I like MMJB, I have been using this program for many years, pretty much exclusively. So I really can't tell ya how it stacks up against the others out there. I used Winamp and Sonique years ago and they didn't have the easy playlist creation that MMJB has. Maybe they do now, but MMJB does everything from ripping CDs to mp3 and back to CD, burning CDs, making labels, etc., etc. Now I have heard the term bloatware used to describe this program and it seems like if you do all these things anyway you are just going to wind up with a bunch of programs that take up just as much, if not more, space. The truth is I have tons of hard drive space and more than ample horsepower, so this is absolutely not an issue for me.
Bottom line is I have found it to be an incredible tool. If I had ever been the least bit dissatisfied with it I would have sought out some of the alternative players, but it has never disappointed me. In fact the first thing I did last night after finally installing it in my new machine was listen to the PCTT radio, it worked great! This thing does it all and does it well.................
